NEWS REPORT - DECEMBER 2002

“Magnetic stimulation” for depression.

People suffering from depression, that has proved difficult to treat using current means, may soon benefit from a new type of treatment that uses magnetic fields to induce seizures in the brain, say US scientists.

Researchers from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas say magnetic seizure therapy (MST) is better and has fewer side effects than conventional electro convulsive therapy (ECT)

“The power of MST is that it is possible to induce highly focal seizures,” said Dr Eric Nestler, chair of psychiatry. “As a result, the treatment should be safer than ECT.”

The team intend to carry out studies of MST on patients who suffer from treatment-resistant major depression at Zale Lipshy University Hospital, Dallas, in collaboration with Columbia University – the world’s first laboratory dedicated to MST therapy, which was set up earlier this year.

CHRISTMAS 2002 - NEW YEAR 2003

Christmas, as a religious festival, is representative of birth and renewal. Our world, both in the microcosm of local streets and the macro-strategy of the global situation, needs some rebirth. It needs the rebirth of tolerance, rebirth of understanding and a return to intuitive compassion for our fellows.
What do we do to defend ourselves from those who see tolerance, love, understanding and compassion as weakness? That is something I leave you to answer.

Christmas time is also a period of parties, of giving and receiving. It is a period of over indulgence and of enjoying being alive. We all have a perfect right to enjoy being alive and to celebrate it. The greatest assistance you can give to your own health and the health of those around you, is to be happy. If you have niggle pains, use magnets to ease these and BE HAPPY. It is good for everyone. In practical mode to help recover from over celebration; use spot magnets on Stomach 36 and Large Intestine 4.
