MAGNETIC THERAPY MAY HELP CONTROL MAJOR DEPRESSION

Repetitive magnetic stimulation of the brain may be an effective and safe long-term maintenance therapy for some patients with major depressive disorder, results of a small study suggest. "There is growing evidence to support the short-term antidepressant effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), but few published data pertain to the maintenance treatment of patients with DSM-IV diagnosed major depressive disorder," write Dr. John P. O'Reardon and colleagues from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

CAN MAGNETS STOP SNORING ?

Tiny implanted magnets could be a new treatment for snoring. Head and neck specialists in the US have found that once implanted, the repelling action of the magnets can help to keep the airways open. A narrowing of the respiratory passage, often associated with being overweight, is one of the main causes of snoring. It is also associated with sleep apnea - which stops people from breathing during sleep - a serious and potentially dangerous condition. The first patients are now expected to be implanted with the magnets in the next few weeks, in the first clinical trials in Europe

DOG WITH IDENTITY MICRO CHIP (Many Letters)

"I recently received your brochure in the post - can you tell me why a micro-chipped dog should not wear a magnetic collar please ?...UK

MTL-We do not recommend using magnet on dogs with an implanted micro chip because the magnets in the collar may damage the micro-chip and could render it ineffective. This is similar to the warning we give for pacemakers and implanted hearing devices also credit cards and any magnetic tapes.

WHERE & WHEN TO WEAR MAGNETIC BRACELETS
I recently purchased some bracelets from you. I just have a few questions about them. Can you leave these bracelets on constantly without taking them off? Can you shower with them on? Is there anything you have to be careful around like electric blankets or computer screens? Thanks again for giving me a free bracelet. All the bracelets are nice. Everyone liked them. I hope it helps my carpal tunnel. Thanks again.......UK
MTL-Thank you for your letter. Yes, you can wear our Bracelets all the time.......even in the shower. However, the cosmetic appearance (gold/silver plating) could be effected long term if subjected to chemicals like washing up liquid or chlorine, as in swimming pools. This will not interfere with the effectiveness of the Bracelets, only the cosmetic appearance. Magnets themselves can effect computers and anything with a micro-chip. You would have to put the magnet directly on the micro-chip for several hours.....This would be difficult if not impossible to do by accident.

MAGNETS AND WATCHES

Could you please let me know if anyone else has problems with there watch while wearing a magnetic bracelet, is it normal for the watch to loose time because of the magnets.....USA
MTL-This can happen with finely tuned watches like Cartier or Rolex but never on
normal watches......it is best to wear the Bracelet on the opposite wrist. If the watch stops, shaking it gently will restart it.
