ANXIETY & STRESS

A few weeks ago I was in my doctor's waiting room, after a while the patients started talking about their individual ailments, arthritis, influenza, and all the usual complaints. I noticed that nobody mentioned that they suffered from any one or another of mental or psychiatric illnesses. If they did suffer, did they even tell their doctor? Although we rarely talk about our mental health it is a problem one in four people suffer from. Here I am excluding serious psychotic illnesses such as reactive depression and schizophrenia which are not discussed in this article. The stress of modern living plays a great part on our health both mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Can you imagine a situation similar to say traveling to an important interview and your car brakes down, you try to telephone ahead and your mobile phone has a flat battery? How would you feel? Stressed with feelings of panic and helplessness. Anxiety sufferers feel like this almost all the time, day after day. Anxiety may be grouped into three types. Panic attacks, agoraphobia (Stay at home syndrome), and social phobia. Anxiety disorders include panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress, social phobia, and many more. It is often forgotten that fear or anxiety in small amounts is essential for normal living.
Conventional Treatment. Can consist of medication. Medication ranges from antidepressants, such as a group of modern drugs which act on serotonin in the brain, to older but effective preparations such as trcyclics and maois. Anti-anxiety medications range from Benzodiazepines to Beta blockers, normally used in heart conditions. The wide variety of preparations reflects the large range of anxiety disorders. Non drug treatments mainly of "Talking therapy", psychotherapy. Psychotherapy attempts to change thinking patterns and your reaction to situations that provoke anxiety. Very effective and underutilized.
The Alternative. Firstly I would ask any of my readers. Do you think that you suffer from anxiety? You are probably thinking of doing something about it some time. Start changing now. Start feeling better within a few short days. Make an appointment to see your doctor. Take responsibility for you own life and find out from your local library about local Yoga and TM classes. Join! The majority of people can only learn to relax correctly in a structured environment.
Many people have found Magnetic Therapy to be of considerable help in relaxation. Insomnia, a common side effect of anxiety has been helped by clients using the" Serenity" magnetic overlay. Others have found the "Bliss" magnetic overlay and Magnetic Pillow of special benefit. I always tell my clients to do the following. Migratory Birds Sense Earth's Magnetic Field.
Light-absorbing molecules present in the retina of a bird's' eye help in sensing the
earth's magnetic field.
MIGRATORY BIRDS, as well as many other animals, are able to sense the magnetic field of the earth, but how do they do it? A fascinating possibility is that they may actually see the earth's magnetic lines as patterns of colour or light intensity superimposed on their visual surroundings,'' said John B. Phillips, associate professor of biology in the College of Science at Virginia Tech. The results of more than two decades of research allow him to let such an image cross his mind. Lobsters Navigate by Magnetism, Study Says
The animal world has its share of celebrated navigators, from flocking geese to spawning salmon. A rather unlikely character, however, may soon take its place among the best of them.
New research suggests that Caribbean spiny lobsters, despite their limited intelligence, may be among the animal kingdom's top navigators. Their homing abilities could also provide scientists with new clues to the long-debated role of the Earth's magnetic fields in animal movements and migrations.
Larry C. Boles and Kenneth J. Lohmann, researchers at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, reported their findings in the January 2003 issue of Nature. Their research suggests that spiny lobsters are able to determine their location on Earth even when transported to an unfamiliar area. The lobsters are the first invertebrates to display this ability known as true navigation. Full National Geographic Article

OAKLAND PARK, Fla., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- BIOflex Medical Magnetics, Inc. (BMMI) announced the results of a double-blind clinical study on its new, patent-pending, composite BIOflex® Concentric Circle Magnets (CCM). The study, "Static Magnets Reduce Myofascial Trigger Point Pain," conducted at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia, was presented at the 26th Annual Meeting of the Bioelectromagnetics Society (BEMS) in Washington, DC, June 21, 2004.This study suggests BIOflex® CCM can significantly decrease myofascial pain when applied to trigger points after one 45-minute treatment.

European Space Agency To Probe Earth's Magnetic Field.
The European Space Agency has announced a satellite mission to study the Earth's magnetic field.
Dubbed Swarm, the mission comprises three satellites which will blast off in a single launcher in 2009. The Swarm constellation will be arranged with two of the satellites flying in a side-by-side pair at an initial altitude of 450km and a single, higher, satellite at 530km. Swarm will conduct the most detailed survey yet of the planet's protective geomagnetic field, and in particular, how it changes with time. This should provide new insight into the workings of the Earth's interior and climate.
The Earth Science Advisory Committee said that Swarm was chosen from the range of candidate Earth Explorer missions for its scientific excellence. The satellites' data will provide a unique view 'inside' the Earth. They will take precise and high-resolution measurements of the strength, direction and variation of the magnetic field, which, along with navigation, accelerometer and electric field measurements, will be used to untangle and model the various sources of the geomagnetic field. Cassini's First Surprise.
Saturn's magnetic field unlike Earth's Ringed planet's poles are on either side of its equator.
Pasadena -- The spacecraft called Cassini's now little more than a million miles from Saturn, is already establishing that the mysterious ringed planet's magnetic field is bizarrely unlike Earth's -- and more surprises are sure to come. Cassini's interplanetary course is to carry it Wednesday night into the first of 76 orbits around Saturn to begin its four-year mission, and scientists are awaiting that first close-in encounter with some anxiety. MAGNETIC HEALTH AIDS

Last week I had good cause to thank my use of magnetic health aids.
I had to relay our drive, this involved the moving of recycled paving slabs (which weigh over 50Kg each) and mixing and spreading of concrete. Even if I say so myself, for an old man I did a lot of physical work but by the end of the day my wrists and hands were painful.
I put high quality magnetic bracelets round my wrists and took vitamin C supplements. By next morning the pain was easier and within 18 hours all back to normal.
MAGNETS & CIRCULATION
The magnets help the circulation of blood, so bringing repair materials and removing unwanted crystals, which cause pain and stiffness. Vitamin C is one of the bodies main repair materials. When the body is doing repair work, it needs the raw materials. So good food and avoiding toxins, which reduce the usefulness of good food, are essentials. Supplementing the food with additional vitamins, during that time it is needed, does help but the important part is getting the materials to the "work" site. This is where magnets are so useful.
Warning. If there is bleeding, internally or from open wounds, then it is obvious that you do not want to increase the flow of blood.
TWISTED ANKLE
A patient with a badly twisted ankle was also glad of magnetic help. We used cold-the proverbial bag of frozen peas- then when sure no internal bleeding from torn muscular tissue, a magnetic bracelet was put round the ankle and spot magnets stuck to the skin on the acupuncture point GB 31 and in a circle around the leg above the knee. The damage was severe but improvement was noticeable after 24 hours and the patient was walking normally after 4 days.

I am looking for something to help with hay fever. Have you any suggestions.
A Ceramic Wafer Magnet can be placed on the area between the Eyebrows (Third Eye)
for about an hour a day. Attach with tape. This has worked very well for many people.

DOG WITH IDENTITY MICRO CHIP
I recently received your brochure in the post - can you tell me why a micro-chipped dog should not wear a magnetic collar please ?
We do not recommend using magnet on dogs with an implanted micro chip because the magnets in the collar may damage the micro-chip and could render it ineffective. This is similar to the warning we give for pacemakers and implanted hearing devices also credit cards and any magnetic tapes.
TENNIS ELBOW
Someone suggested I use magnets to cure an extreme case of tennis elbow. I
found your web site from a search on Google.
Do your spot magnets help in curing this problem? If so since the pain is in
the elbow and down the forearm where would you place the magnets? Do you
recommend wearing them 24/7? Is there a polarity issue?
We would recommend the Tennis Elbow Support, this could be used continually (24/7)
but after the first few days.....you should find the pain has subsided. Then you could
wear the support again only if and when the pain comes back. The support will not
cure the condition, as Tennis Elbow is caused by damage to the actual tissue. But the
support could well reduce/control the pain, as with most of the supports.
We always suggest magnets are True North to the skin and all the Body Wraps
are configured that way.

PAIN IN THE UPPER BACK
I already own a magnetic back belt supplied by you and have found it very satisfactory for the relief of low-back pain. I also suffer occasionally with muscular pain and Fibrositis in the upper back area between and around the shoulder blades. None of your products seems to cover this area specifically...it's as though I need a waistcoat with a magnetic back to it! Which of your products do you suggest might be most effective? The Gold 9000 Spot magnets would be ideal for your shoulders. Not only are they very easy to use.....they are also very strong. This magnetic strength is important as the shoulder area is quite dense with muscle and tissue, and less powerful magnets will not penetrate very well. DRIVING AND LOWER BACK PAIN
Can you tell me what I could use for reducing the effects of driving on the lower back / posture.

Yes, we have a Magnetic Car Seat........driving is particularly bad for the lower spine as
the legs are angled up from the seat which then tilts the spine.

RELIEF (Just a short word)
I feel that I should write and let you know haw pleased I am with the results of using
Magnetic Therapy. I received my first delivery from you at the beginning of April and
immediately began to get result.
1. I have had severe panic attacks for the last five years, these have made me very ill for at
least five days at a time. Now, I still get a really bad day but by evening I feel alright after that.
2. I have had constant dizziness for the past two years, this has now eased considerably.
