ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS

Ankylosing spondylitis is described as a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the joints of the spine. 
Between the spine and the pelvis and peripheral joints of the arms and legs. Ligaments and tendons where 
they attach to the bones. Starting as stiffness of the spine or neck and perhaps other joints. This results in 
pain and later the affected bones begin to grow together. Making the joints immovable.

Symptoms usually start with back pain, which decreases with activity. Not dissimilar from osteo arthritis. 
Joints stiffen during prolonged bed rest. Other effects of the disease include, malaise, inflammation of the 
eyes, and loss of appetite, numbness and incontinence. Further progress leads on to the sufferer developing 
a stoop, affecting breathing. Over time, spondylitis (Spinal inflammation) can lead to fusion of the vertebrae (Ankylosing).

Males between the ages of 16 to 40 years are the predominate sufferers. Diagnosis is a straightforward 
medical examination. Confirmation can be obtained by the results of a blood test. An antigen HLA B27 
is present in 90% of patients.

Conventional treatment consists of anti-inflammatory drugs and an activity programme, including 
physiotherapy. Cortisone injections are occasionally used.

The alternative treatment. I recommend using a magnetic bed overlay. If eyes are effected a magnetic 
eye mask can be of benefit. For specific areas of pain I would use D-max Neodymium Magnets, North 
Pole to the area of pain. Take 6oz of Bipolar magnetised water twice daily. For exercise I suggest 
swimming at least 20 to 30 minutes daily.

MIGRAINE & MAGNETS

TRIGGER TO START A MIGRAINE
Experience has shown that there are three basic Migraine triggers, A) intolerance of certain types of 
food, B) stress and C) hormone cycles. Each individual sufferer may have different trigger levels of 
stress, different foods or different chemical messengers ( hormones) that start the migraine. In many 
people  it is the combination of factors that causes the problem and this combination is not always static. 
That is, the actual cause may be variable.


EARLY TREATMENT
Experience with many sufferers indicates that muscular tension in the upper back and shoulders, 
particularly between the shoulder blade and the spine, is present just before and during an attack.

USE OF SMALL MAGNETS TO REDUCE THE PAIN OF A MIGRAINE

As soon as the first early warning signal is received, adhere the magnets in place ( north seeking pole 
touching the skin) on the upper back between the shoulder blades, on the top of the feet and on the head.

You will need help fixing magnets to the positions on the back, in all cases the magnet should have the 
north  seeking pole touching the skin.  The magnets should be left in place until all symptoms or danger 
signals have passed.  Pain killers and any other treatments can be used at the same time.  Try to relax. 
If a hot or warm bath helps then apply magnets after drying off thoroughly.

The  points where the magnets should go are as follows:
Stick magnets (both sides on the spine  in all cases)  between the shoulder blade ( scapular) and spine just 
above an imaginary line horizontally across the centre of the shoulder blades.
This should be between the shoulder blade and spine, about 1 to 2 inches (2 to 5 cm) above the bottom 
of the shoulder blade on an average adult ( proportionally closer to the bottom of the shoulder blade on 
smaller people) also the spine side of the top of the shoulder blade, about 1 inch ( 2cm) from the top of 
the shoulder blade.  On the back of the shoulder above the shoulder blade (but still on the back) about 
midway between the centre of the spine and the outer tip of the shoulder.  There are other useful and 
beneficial points, for more detailed references to the acupuncture points used,  and for  food intolerance 
related and cyclical or hormone related migraines, see the book "Magnet Healing"

Joint Magnetics Workshops - 2-4 July 2003 at The University of Glasgow

Following the success of previous Joint Magnetics Workshops (last two meetings were 
York 1999 and Cardiff 2001) the next workshop, JMW03, is being organized as a joint 
venture of The UK Magnetics Society, The IoP Magnetism Group, The Institute of Electrical 
Engineers (IEE), The UKRI Chapter of the IEEE Magnetics Society (IEEE) and 
The Institute of Materials.

The aim of the workshop is threefold: (i) to gain an overview of magnetics research within 
the UK, (ii) to recognize the relevance of magnetics to modern industries and (iii) to have the

MIGRAINE SUFFERERS (2)

1...I suffer from migraine, would the  high strength Premier bracelets be best ?

2...I am a migraine sufferer and I was considering trying out magnet therapy 
     (I've tried everything else)  but I'm not sure where to start or which 
     magnets/strengths etc, to use. Can you advise?

On the whole with Magnetic Bracelets (for most conditions) the stronger the better (up to 2500/2800)
However, people with Migraine seem to respond better to less strong ones........but that is the only condition 
we know about that appears to respond better to a lower gauss bracelet......i.e. The Tranquility Ball Bracelet 
in the long term. The Magnetic Headband is also useful in the short term but some times can be inconvenient.

ALLERGIC TO METAL

I was wondering if you could help me. I recently bought from you a copper and 
magnet bracelet. Unfortunately, it seems I am allergic to the magnets! I have a rash 
on the inside of my wrists that can only come from the magnets. I was wondering if 
you have any suggestions? ....UK

You may be allergic to Nickel which is in almost all magnets..... If the magnet is not exposed to the 
skin, as in the Expanded Bracelet or the many Magnetic Wraps we have available, you should be alright .
Very few people are allergic to either Stainless Steel or Gold ........But it is quite common for people to 
have an allergic reaction to many other metals. We have a New range, coming out in July, of 
non - metallic bracelets, which are made of Hematite Beads that have been magnetized. If 
we can help you further , please let us know.  

MAGNETS WITH HOLE

I bought some magnets from a lecturer who came over from America recently& I would like to 
know where I can purchase some more.  They are round, with a hole in the middle and are about 
an inch across.  I'd be grateful for any suggestions

I just wanted to say how helpful I have found the Magnetic Knee Wraps I purchased - they give 
me so much help. The condition I suffer from, RSD, causes - amongst other things - terrible cramps 
and spasms in the affected limbs. In a desperate effort to minimize the pain I decided to try using 
the Knee Wraps as Calf Supports - and what a brilliant idea that was, because the magnets have 
helped so much in reducing the cramps and spasms. Thank you for yet another fantastic product!

Is there any chance that there might one day be ankle wraps/supports in the same stretchy fabric? 
I'd be first in the queue, that's for sure! My grateful thanks once again......UK
