Welcome to the November Newsletter......Christmas is approaching closer and we will just remind you to send any orders you may have shortly. Although, we send our order's out very quickly, we are a little dependant on the Royal Mail who do themselves come under pressure in December. CHOLESTEROL

What is cholesterol? Do you know how it affects you?
Cholesterol is a fat like substance present in the blood, body cells and most tissues. Cholesterol is essential for the body to build new cells, insulate nerves and producing sex hormones, and bile salts. Cholesterol is essential for the conversion to vitamin D in the skin when exposed to sunlight. The liver manufactures all the cholesterol that the body requires.
However cholesterol also enters the system through our diet, such as animal based foods like milk cheese eggs, fish and meat. Some people have a genetic predisposition to high blood cholesterol levels. In addition to making dietary changes to reduce cholesterol, medication may be required. It’s possible for some people to eat foods high in cholesterol and still have low blood cholesterol levels. High levels of cholesterol in the blood stream may lead to coronary artery disease.
Confused? There is also good and bad cholesterol.
High-density lipoprotein {HDL} cholesterol is often referred to as the good cholesterol because it contains a small amount of cholesterol itself .It carries away harmful fatty deposits from the cells and tissues to the liver for excretion from the body. This helps to prevent the build up of cholesterol in the walls of the arteries.
Low-density lipoprotein {LDL} referred to as bad accounts for most of the cholesterol in the blood; it carries cholesterol to the tissues of the body including the arteries. A high level of LDL cholesterol increases the risk of heart disease. It is also the main source of dangerous build-up and blockage in arteries.
To have your cholesterol checked it is necessary to visit your doctor to have a blood test.
Treatment. Usually consists of a lifestyle change
1. Watch your dietary intake of cholesterol carefully. Use cholesterol reducing low fat margarine.

2. Regular exercise helps to boost the good HDL cholesterol, in addition to all of its others health benefits,
3. Reduce calorie intake to keep body weight within a normal range.
4. Limit your fat intake.
Cholesterol lowering drugs may also be prescribed.
The Alternative
1. Lifestyle changes as above
2. Place the North Pole of the magnet under the Right foot and South Pole under the Left for
twenty minutes twice daily.
3. Take 6 fl. ozs Bipolar magnetised water twice daily.

This year The UK Magnetics Society’s annual Ewing Lecture will change from its normal format and will take the form of a magnetics drama. Physics student, Emma, is struggling with her course and the concepts of science and engineering. However, help is at hand when her magnetician grandfather reveals the secrets within electromagnetism with a range of stimulating and challenging demonstrations.
Professor Beckley is well known for the style of his lectures and demonstrations which are informative, thought-provoking and entertaining. The drama will be played out at the prestigious Royal Institution Lecture Theatre which is the renowned setting for the BBC Television Christmas Lectures - and the very lecture theatre where Michael Faraday spoke so often!
With this year’s change in style we hope to attract 6th form and university students as well as scientists, engineers, teachers and lecturers. Students may attend the Lecture free of charge. This event will provide ideal opportunities for UK Magnetics Society members to take advantage of recruitment opportunities and to promote the magnetics community to students. A variety of sponsorship opportunities will also be available.
The evening will feature a competition and a comprehensive hand-out pack will be provided including a range of literature from sponsors and items of magnetic hardware.

COMBINING THERAPIES

I have spent around thirty years being involved in natural medicine, sometimes called alternative but since most folk or herbal therapies actually predate modern allopathic medicine by hundreds if not thousands of years, is seems wrong to call the old treatments "alternative". During that time I have heard debates about the suitability of patients using several different therapies at the same time. I have also come across arguments about therapists who offer many different named therapies but these different names often conceal very similar concepts, or understandings, of the nature of health and well being.
Over these years of experience I have become convinced that the well being of the patient and the need to speed recovery from any ill health, are the only things that matter. Arguments of the names and number of therapies being spurious.
Recovery usually involves various phases. Recognition, coping activity, treatment activity, recovery and convalescence. These phases are not rigid steps that must be followed. Their relative positions are fluid and interchangeable.
These phases often involve different types of therapy and even different therapists. I suppose a busy GP will say the phases should read diagnosis, prescription and compliance but I see a great difference between recognition and the word diagnosis and that is just the start of our divergence. The modern, chemical dependent, medical industry uses the word diagnosis to describe the process of putting a name to a set of known symptoms or conditions. This is not recognition, as it allows no place for the cause, no place for the effect and most importantly, no place for the patient to
fully understand.
EACH PATIENT IS UNIQUE
The use of multiple or combined therapies can be beneficial in each of these phases. For example Shiatsu energy evaluation can be combined with observation and talking to gain recognition. Aromatherapy with magnets used between sessions, can help with coping. Treatment activity can embrace acupuncture, use of magnets, flower remedies, shiatsu, chemical medication, counseling and even surgery. Convalescence can be enhanced by yoga, meditation and exercise. Each patient is unique and each combination of actions should also be unique. The range of understanding and the range of treatment options are vast. Integration of natural and allopathic, used constructively and applied to the unique individual, tailored for their precise situation, is a utopian ideal but we can try to achieve improvement from the present norm. Practitioners of natural therapies can lead the way by cooperation and offering patients constructive combinations of therapeutic treatments.

BACK PAIN
I have suffered back pain through muscle spasm and was wondering what type of
magnet you would recommend to me for the lower spine area !........UK
You could go for one of the Back Support Wraps. We stock them in both Firm Support
which holds the spine firmly....or Flexible Support which are better for more active people.
Another option is.........The Gold 9000 Spot Magnets, they may well help. They are both very
strong and easy to use. The magnets themselves can be re-used for up to ten years.
Although the plasters which attach them to the skin need changing regularly.
We stock spare plasters (SP-2) but you could cut up and use any normal plasters
to re-attach them.

ALLERGIC TO METAL
I was wondering if you could help me. I recently bought from you a copper and magnet
bracelet. Unfortunately, it seems I am allergic to the magnets! I have a rash on the
inside of my wrists that can only come from the magnets. I was wondering if you
have any suggestions? ....UK
You may be allergic to Nickel which is in almost all magnets..... If the magnet is not exposed to the
skin, as in the Expanded Bracelet or the many Magnetic Wraps we have available, you should be alright .
Very few people are allergic to either Stainless Steel or Gold ........But it is quite common for people to
have an allergic reaction to many other metals. We have a New range, coming out in July, of
non - metallic bracelets, which are made of Hematite Beads that have been magnetized. If
we can help you further, please let us know.
MAGNETIC BRACELETS AND WATCHES
Do I need to keep the free bracelet away from my watch?.......UK
The Bracelet will be alright with any normal watch. However some very expensive watches like Rolex or Cartier have a finely balanced mechanism and strong magnets could stop them. This can easily be resolved by taking the watch off and gently shaking it. It will then re-start.

SWIMMING POOLS & JEWELLERY
Would like to order chain bracelets, but would like to know if all bracelets can
be worn when bathing or swimming......USA
The swimming pool and any water will not interfere with the Magnetic Effect of any of our Bracelets. However, chlorine
like any chemical could in the long term (6 months) spoil the cosmetic appearance....and indeed any jewellery.
ACNE
Could you please advise me on what kind of product would benefit acne please?.....UK
Drinking magnetic water is the most popular and commonly recommended treatments in all the books on
Magnet Therapy. There are many ways of magnetizing water and we have several products on the website
that do this. Applying the North Pole of a Ceramic Wafer Magnet to the affected area can be very
beneficial, we are told. So too is washing the affected area with Magnetic Water........
Many of the books written also mention diet and suggest cutting down on dairy products.

USING TWO OR MORE MAGNETIC PRODUCTS (At the same time.)
Can I use the Gold 9000 (Spot Magnets) and the Necklace at the same time ? .....UK
Yes you can use more than one product at a time....The Gold 9000 can be used for weeks, They come on plasters and there is 12 in a pack. Most conditions need about 5/6 magnets.
The magnets themselves will last about 10 years but the plasters need changing
every few days depending how often you shower. You can cut up ordinary household
plasters or we sell replacement plasters (50 @ £4.95)......
The Relaxation Necklace is ideal for the neck and shoulders, it is a good idea though
to take it off in bed.......as it could tangle....like any other necklace......
