This month Rosemary is writing about RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS and an interesting short article it is. Peter is touching on the use of magnets for older people, again a fascinating subject.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an inflammatory disease usually affecting the joints. Symptoms are similar to other forms of Arthritis. Joint pain, stiffness, inflammation and loss of function, are usually seen. Often followed by symptoms similar to influenza, fever, headaches and a rise in body temperature. Stiffness of the joints may be more pronounced in the morning. Diagnosis can be difficult, pain and inflammation may change from week to week. A spontaneous remission! A diagnosis by your family doctor or consultant is imperative. Drug therapy is the key to successful treatment. Blood tests and x-rays may be involved. Unlike osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis can be cured. Other treatments are complementary

Treatment may start with Disease Modifying Anti Rheumatic Drugs. These are a group of drugs, which in many cases were developed for other diseases but were found useful in treating RA. One such preparation is also used for the treatment of acne.

Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs, (NSAIDs) are widely used for treatment of all forms of arthritis. They treat pain in addition to reducing inflammation. The most commonly known preparation would be Ibuprofen.

Other drugs used range from pain medications to cortisone.

Complementary treatments range from diets, acupuncture to reflexology.

Magnet Therapy has been used for many years for the treatment of all types of Arthritis. How magnets work specifically with Rheumatoid Arthritis is not fully understood. However in a large number of people they give significant relief. Invariably I use and recommend the "D-max Neodymium Magnets" (Super Magnet). MAGNETISM  and  MATURITY

The use of magnets to help those physical afflictions that we suffer in return for the wisdom of our mature years. As  the years pass, the mind widens and wisdom grows but the price of this is a reduction in the natural resilience and flexibility of the muscles and ligaments. Just as an oak tree gets more majestic and  become host to a wider variety of life,  it also looses its flexibility, so with human kind. As the non physical gets more flexible the physical gets less so.

Magnets improves physical  flow, whether it be water, blood or energy. So use magnets to improve your flow. If you have been suffering from restriction in the free flow of fluids or energy, about the body, for several years; then you will need to keep the magnets in place  for a lengthy period.

Amongst other things that aid the return of mobility are:- yoga,  keeping warm, walking and eating fresh fruit and vegetables. Cod Liver oil has beneficial effects but again these may take 3 or 4 months to show.

SLOWING DOWN
If you are slowing down, stiffening up, try a magnet belt, magnetic necklace, knee supports etc. Try to  avoid pre-prepared foods and go back to old fashioned cooking, eat oily fish or take capsules. Use garlic and root ginger in that cooking. Try 5 minutes of yoga a day; walking and doing as much exercise as your body is comfortable with. Pain  should NOT be ignored but physical tiredness is not  a bad thing if you know the reason for it.

For the Yoga, any good book or video will get you started. The cat and dog and simple spine twist may be all you need to start down that road to being both mentally wise and physically flexible. Receiving physical bodywork, such as aromatherapy, massage or Shiatsu will be both enjoyable and really get the flow that leads to flexibility going. Start today.
