SCIATICA AND MAGNETIC THERAPY Sciatica is a very common and crippling condition. It is caused by damage, disruption or entrapment, of the sciatic nerve. Pain which radiates from the back down one or other leg is known as sciatica and this can have a variety of triggering causes. The Sciatic nerve becomes pinched by displacement of the vertebra and or the discs that separate these vertebras. The condition known as a slipped disc is more usually where the core of the disc gets displaced- swells ( this is technically known as herniated disc) and the protrusion impinges on the spinal cord; which runs down the back through the hollow centre of both vertebra and discs. The extent of the pain path can indicate where the nerve is trapped. L4 syndrome is where the nerve root adjacent to the disc between the third and fourth lumbar vertebrae is damaged; while L5 syndrome is when the nerve root adjacent to the disc between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae is affected while the S1 syndrome is when the problem is between the fifth lumbar and the first sacral vertebras All of these are in the lower back and Magnetic Therapy Ltd. can supply a flexible back support that is flexible enough to fit most sizes and wide enough to cover most of the required area. They all have 16 powerful magnets to ease the pain and assist in the repair process. If you have had lower back problems but now seem to have recovered you may benefit from wearing a belt which contains magnets.
