A STIFF NECK AND MAGNET THERAPY
By Rosemary Skinner SRN

I first saw John aged 42 six weeks ago. Following a road traffic accident in which he received a whiplash injury to his neck. The term "whiplash" is almost always associated with cervical spine injuries sustained after motor vehicle accidents.

My normal procedure in cases of whip lash and other apparent neck injuries is to ensure that the client has recently seen his Doctor. Although neck stiffness can arise from physical neck complaints it is also a common symptom of numerous infectious illnesses. Symptoms were neck pain, headache, fatigue, and shoulder pain. John had been prescribed the normal therapy; anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAI), and fitted with a soft cervical collar.

Rosemary runs a busy practice in Stillorgan, Co. Dublin,
Which is only 4 miles from the Dublin City Centre.

. I applied a "D max neodymium Magnet", north pole, to the affected area overnight. By the next morning the inflammation was significantly reduced. Following the application for a further six days the pain had improved appreciably. Because discomfort can last for several months I recommended the use of a large "Magnetic Shoulder Wrap" worn at night.
