YOGA AND MAGNETIC THERAPY by Peter Rose
With summer coming it is time to look to ways we can enjoy this with minimum down time, due to strained muscles. The obvious ways are to increase, or at least start, the early morning stretching routines. The simple ones are the best. Get any beginners Yoga book from the library and develop your own mini sequence of 4 or 5 different stretches. Don't try to get to extreme of posture, just attempting to get there is a good start. This need only take up 5 or 10 minutes so don't say you never have time. My own early morning routine involves energy circulation, yoga, stretching, then physical exercise and still only takes 10 to 15minutes a day. The yoga part starts with simple swiveling the hips then to side stretches, slide hand down the leg each side, then to arm swinging. shoulder rolls and very gentle part neck rotation, only going part way never a full circle. The putting hands on hips arching backwards before going into forward bend, cat and dog postures, the cobra, diamond and semi lotus. I do not force any posture or hold it for more than a few seconds. The Object is to get movement, fluidity and flexing of the joints. After some physical exercises, such as sit ups and press ups the whole routine is finished off with 3 salutes to the sun.
Summer Diet Look at your diet, fruits are summer and late summer foods, so increase the percentage of your diet that goes with the season. Remember your own areas of previous injury and weakness, Get yourself a few bandage wraps with magnets in them and use these as protection. Action to prevent a repeat injury not only saves you pain but also saves further weakening of a fragile body part. Before you start to rake up the grass cuttings, think about the bad back you had last year, put on a support belt and rake away.
