ART-139
SOCCER By Peter Rose FSI
The main issue at this moment- is keeping all the players fit and ready for action. Now they have started it will be necessary to keep players fit and to speed recovery from the inevitable knocks, over stretched tissue and general bruising. Magnetic therapy can play a big part in these.
Many soccer injuries result either from impact; mistimed tackles by an opponent who ends up colliding with the other player, or from over stretching a joint and its connective tissue. Mistimed tackles usually result in the tackler’s feet impacting onto the opponents lower limbs, some impact injuries can be to head and neck resulting from collisions during attempts to head the ball. Given the intensity and controlled aggression of professional football and regarding the importance of every moment in a “world cup” game, and considering that all the contestants are both fit and strong individuals; it is not a surprise that these injuries occur. They can be severe including broken bones but we hope that these will be kept to a minimum during normal competition.
DAMAGE AND REPAIR Damage to joints, ligaments, cartilage etc is often caused by attempting to change direction suddenly whilst “under load”. The player is striving to reach a certain spot in the shortest possible time and staining all muscles to do this when they need to change direction, the resulting twisting force applied to a joint proves too much for the tissue involved. The studs which enable a player to get both “thrust” and control on a grass surface becomes a hindrance in this temporary situation, the feet some times stay – locked by the studs- in a position that the knee does not want.
Actually the same thing applies to all sports and the injuries, strains and impact damage that you get from them.
HELP YOURSELF You can help yourself by using the wraps for the injuries and problems that occur to us all from time to time. You do nto have to be a professional sportsman to take advantage. There is a list of articles covering the entire potential injury sites- wrist to ankle- available free on this web site. If you wish to know more and to prove that you know more, then you can do the on line course. Be happy and may the best team win.
