NECK PAIN
By Peter Rose FSI
Contents include:- Pain in neck, stiff neck, swellings in neck and whiplash. The neck is a vital yet vulnerable part of our anatomy. Pain in the neck, stiffness and painful disruption to movement are common.
Pain In The Neck
SYMPTOMS INCLUDE 1) Pain when try to turn the head to left or right 2) Pain when tilt the head back 3) Pain when any sudden movement of the head is required 4) Pain when lay down at night and try to sleep
DESCRIPTION The top part of the spine is made up of seven cervical vertebrae and these are the bones that form the neck. These hold the head in place and provide the framework for the muscles, blood vessels, air tubes, nerves and food pathways. There is a lot of activity going on in the neck at all times, from the flow of blood to and from the brain, the transfer of air from the nose to the lungs and back out again, the central nervous system has a lot of “wiring” through the area and there is the movement of food and drink from the mouth to the got. There is also a lot of our sound producing system within the neck area. So any disruption or injury tends to be noticeable quickly, because of the slender structure, which is necessary to enable the degree of movement required, and the relative weight of the head; we often get over stretched damage to the soft tissue in this area.
SOLUTIONS Magnetic Neck support BBP-28 Magnetic Pillow MP-1 and MP-2 When the pain has reduced try to do strengthening exercise such a yoga but take care not to do further damage Take care of your posture, spending long periods withy our neck bent to one side ( to hold a phone in place) can be causing postural problems and leading to your neck pain
Stiff Neck
SYMPTOMS INCLUDE 1) Tenderness in the upper back above the shoulder blades 2) Pain and reluctance for muscles to respond when you wish to move the head
DESCRIPTION This is a condition that affects most people at some time. It is a soft tissue problem that usually occurs due to over activity or (its opposite) to prolonged stagnation in one position. This can be while asleep of sitting still in a draft.
SOLUTIONS Magnetic neck support BBP-28 Exercise such as yoga Take care of your posture Wear warm neck coverings when in cold conditions
Swelling In And Around The Neck.
SYMPTOMS INCLUDE 1) tenderness to the touch . 2) Swellings that seem like bean sized rubbery objects under the skin . 3) Stiffness and pain
DESCRIPTION There are a collection of lymph nodes around the neck and these are commonly known as glands, when in a normal condition they are not noticed but they can become enlarged. The other main areas to find lymph nodes are in the arm pits and the groin so you may find all of these areas affected at the same time. These lymph nodes are part of the bodies defence mechanism
SOLUTIONS Because there is a risk that swollen glands may indicate “glandular fever” you should seek medical examination and advice. If only the neck glands are swollen and other areas are normal, this may indicate a localised infection or even early signs of a throat infection. Use appropriate throat remedies and monitor the situation
