HIP PAIN By Peter Rose FSI
Contents Include. Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Muscular Problems and Bursitis, Wear and Tear on the Joints.
The hips are a vital part of our mobility system; hip pain can be as a result of muscular problem. Hip pain can also be due to problems in the bones and joint. Due to the difference in the pelvic girdles of women (The actual hip joint tends to be further out from the spine) they tend to suffer more problems than men.
Arthritis: This is a generic name for any condition that has pain associated with inflammation and a joint. Symptoms include: Pain with restricted movement in hip Pain in area surrounding the hip Swelling and inflammation in hip area
Description The ball and socket hip joint has a wide range of movement and also takes a large load when we walk, climb stairs etc. Due to the wider pelvic bone structure in women the loading on parts of the hip joint tend to be greater, this is especially so in heaver people. The joint itself is surrounded by strong muscles and a great number of cartilages and tendons. Strains, small tears etc result in inflammation, pain and restricted movement.
SOLUTIONS: In short term, rest and pain killers, but these are short term only muscles loose their strength quite quickly if not used. Use GOLD 9000 Spot Magnets on the area surrounding the pain Magnetic belt to improve general blood flow to the structure Gentle yoga type gradual stretching, once the initial pain has lessened Paying attention to posture and weight to reduce risk of reoccurrence
In all cases of hip problems particularly if the problem lasts some time or keeps reoccurring, seek medical advise and some form of scan or X ray to determine the cause of the problem
Osteoarthritis: This is one of the most common causes of hip pain and reduced mobility. It results from a weakening in the “cords” that bind muscles to joints and bones to bones. This weakening is due to deterioration in the bones. This may be due to calcium deficiency. Symptoms include Pain in hip especially when walking up stairs Pain which persists for some time after walking Pain if attempt to spread the legs wide Severe pain and loss of mobility
Description This is clinically specified as a disease of joint cartilage that is associated with secondary changes in the underlying bone. This mostly affects hips, knees and thumbs. The condition may result from trauma and is most common after middle age. As with most progressing problems there is a range of severity and the sooner you start trying to correct the situation the better. As we get older the ability of the body to transfer the calcium in our foods, into bone in the skeleton, gets reduced. This seems especially so in ladies, probably due to those changes in hormones and chemical balances which occur through life.
SOLUTIONS Use of anti inflammatory medications to relieve immediate pain Use GOLD 9000 Spot Magnets circle the centre of the pain. Use this liberally around the area Have X rays and scans to examine the extent of the problem, in severe cases surgery and joint replacement may be needed Pay attention to the diet and especially the calcium uptake. There is considerable debate about the value of calcium supplements, in some cases it has been found that taking a concentrated supplement is counter productive and it is probably much better to eat foods rich in calcium.
Muscular Problems and Bursitis. The hip joint is surrounded by ligaments and muscles, all of these have to move in relation to each other and the bones of the joint. There are two main bursas (the sac of fibrous tissue that is lined with synovial membrane and filled with fluid, these are to allow movement) .involved in the hip joint The outer superficial trochanteric one and the inner deep trochanteric bursa
Symptoms include: Pain in hip when running or jogging Pain when walking up stairs Pain that radiates down the thigh especially when this persists when resting or at night
Description Over stretching the muscles and or the ligaments that anchor these muscles to the bones causes a loss in elasticity of the muscle fibres this disrupts the nerves and results in pain. Damage to the bursa causes the bones to become too close to each other and again results in pain, often with swelling and redness of skin.
SOLUTIONS: Apply cooling pads, ice packs etc to reduce swelling and ease pain Rest and avoid running especially on rough surfaces for a while GOLD 9000 Spot Magnets stuck in place around the centre of the pain Magnetic Overlay to help speed recovery during the night
In all cases of hip problems particularly if the problem lasts some time or keeps reoccurring, seek medical advise and some form of scan or X ray to determine the cause of the problem
Wear and Tear on Joints The loading on the hip joint is such that some wear and tear is inevitable. Poor blood supply, and to some extent poor blood quality- due to diet- can make this worse, being over weight, failing to exercise and poor posture all contribute.
Symptoms include: Extreme pain with loss of movement, Loss of stability and rigidity in hip Continuous pain in hip area even at night Sharp pains as the muscular tissue gets nipped and squashed when a slight abnormal movement of the structure
Description : The edges of the socket part of the ball and socket joint start to fray and in extreme cases crack. The structure weakens pulling all the soft tissue out of shape.
SOLUTIONS: In all cases of hip problems particularly if the problem lasts some time or keeps reoccurring, seek medical advise and some form of scan or X ray to determine the cause of the problem
Hip joint replacement In short term, rest and pain killers, but these are short term only muscles loose their strength quite quickly if not used. GOLD 9000 Spot Magnets on the area surrounding the pain Magnetic Belt to improve general blood flow to the structure
CONCLUSION:. The hips are a hugely important part of our physical structure; we should try to prevent damage to them by activity and posture. There are many other possibilities for feeling pain in the hips, as well as damage to the hips. Lower back pain can cause referred pain to the hips, problems with the organs in the pelvic area can also result on feeling of hip pain. If suffering from pain and you do not have an obvious cause, it is wise to get X ray or scan to establish if any of the structure has been damaged, this is especially wise when there has been any sort of trauma injury. Magnetic Therapy can assist in pain relief and speed recovery.
