Magnetics Education/Institutions (2)1. magnetcentre.co.uk The Magnet Centre, based at the University of Sunderland, has a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence in magnetics calibration, consultancy, research and training. Established in 1975, the centre offers clients a comprehensive range of professional services, which have had BCS, NAMAS, and UKAS approval since 1983. The Centre is also represented on British Standards Institution and International Electrotechnical Committees, concerned with the accreditation of magnetic standards, ensuring global approval.
2. UK Magnetics Society - Home Page The UK Magnetics Society is an autonomous body with an elected management committee and a formal Constitution. There are no geographical restrictions on membership and each application will be considered for approval by the management committee.
Aims and Objectives
The UK Magnetics Society is a mutual organisation managed by a management committee drawn from its membership. Its primary aim is to provide services to its members through publicising magnetics and channelling members' information to a wide and relevant audience. Its primary activities are in:
the organisation of seminars on a wide range of subjects with a clear aim to bring together academic and industrial participants
sponsoring and co-sponsoring of magnetics events
the production of Magnews - the Society's quarterly newsletter. Magnews has a wide and targeted worldwide readership
acting as a 'technology broker' for enquiries - for the benefit of members, especially smaller companies
maintaining a comprehensive technical directory service - the members' products/services/technology directory is used when responding to external technical enquiries
